Very nice progress! I really love mantids, I find them fascinating that they sacrificed the two front legs to use them for grabbing and holding their prey and evolved to walk on four legs versus most insects that utilizes all six for stability... Would really make for an interesting bot, maybe program it to stay still until something come close to it and prance on it?

Tom's back!

The Praying Mantis is the only insect that acts very much like a quadruped. Can you think of others?

Thanks for the comment! I was thinking of extra features to add and the "Pouncing on Prey" one was something I had not thought of - Thanks for the idea!

I was bored in school today (only had 1 lesson) so I did a quick Google Image search and I only found 1 which looks really odd:

You're welcome!
I've ordered the 645's for the arms today and they should be dispatched tomorrow (and I think I'll get them by Wednesday) so I can start getting it all started up - I'm also re-thinking the arm design and I've got some rough ideas at the moment so I'll post some sketches tomorrow. :D

Sorry everyone for the late post - I ended up not having any time to do some decent sketches :(. However, I've got a rough drawing for the layout of the servos - I'm still thinking of how to make the "arm" piece look really cool so I'll hopefully work on that tomorrow.

Woohoo! I just received my servos - I'm going to try to get the new arms ready by Friday so I can have some fun over the weekend!

I think I have a pretty good design for the arm but I'm still trying to make some changes (I've given myself until the end of the day to come up with designs). Any comments are welcome! :D

I like it! If you made it in neon coloring, it would be wicked! Sort of like this:

I know that we have something like that in our school's tech. storage room which nobody uses but I've never actually taken a look so I'm not too sure what it looks like exactly - however, I do know that it's green so that would fit in with the colour scheme I'm going for; thanks for the idea! ^___^

I'm planning on cutting out some parts tomorrow so hopefully the arms will be done (or at least the fluorescent parts of the arm) so I can upload some photos - I'm getting to the exciting bit when I can start getting it all to move, it's going to be AWESOME!
