Hi All,
I was rummaging thru some of my old robotics stuff and came across an old EH3-R that shipped with the New Micros Servopod for servo control and program control. It implements FSMs under MaxFORTH which I thought was pretty cool. Sadly, I'm having issues with the microcontroller, having a tought time finding support and would like to try something else. I see that the SSC-32 seems to be the servo controller of choice, but what are my options regarding motion and behavior programming. Also, I have the MadCatz wireless PS2 controller and would like to use that as well.

Any recommendations?

Hi,

Several options, a few include:

SSC-32 with Bot Board 2 (BB2) with Basic Atom Pro 28: This was the standard configuration that sold for several years. Can run this both with Powerpod code or with our Phoenix code base.

SSC-32 with Botboarduino (Arduino): Should be able to use the current Arduino setup, may have to tweak the configuration file as I am not sure if this body and legs have the same dimensions as current ones...

Arc32: Code base in place that it can control the servos and run the main phoenix code...

Lots of other configurations, but these are the main ones here.

Kurt

Thanks Kurt,
I read your post contrasting Arduino with BAP, and it looks like there's a growing wave of enthusiasm and support for the Arduino. I have not yet checked out your Phoenix code-base but will do so soon. Have you any experience with the Parallax Propeller?

Some, earlier I did do a conversion of the Phoenix code to the Propeller. It is probably an earlier version than the Phoenix code I am running on other processors, such as Arduino's or Basic Atom Pros including the Arc32. You can see more about it in the thread: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=6872
