It depends on what you want to do. Different programming languages have different pros/cons. You have to decide what it is you want to do, and then pick a language that can do the job that is best suited for that application. I'm not a programmer so I can't tell you what those advantages are from one language to the next.
First find out what you will be doing, then research the various programming languages and determine the pros/cons to each, and then pick the best match.
