Lynxmotion Tech Support

I need to control a single motor and I've been thinking about using an HS-5745 Servo Amp to control it with a BASIC Atom Pro.
I like knowing as much as I can about something before I buy it and I would appreciate it if someone could give me some more information on the HS-5745. Mostly what I'm looking for here is a sample code to use it with a BAP. (because I love sample code) By the way I don't know what motor I'm going to be using yet but it will probably be one of lynxmotion's 6-12vdc planetary gearhead motors.

Might want to use a RoboClaw or Sabertooth controller for those motors.

Feedback isn't necessary but having a quadrature encoder would be nice. Also the motor doesn't need to be very powerful. 6vdc would be plenty volts. The motor will only need to spin at about 20 RPM to.

You might look at modifying an inexpensive servo for continous rotation.

If you buy the LM motors with the tail shafts, you can add US encoders.
The RoboClaw can use the encoders in a closed loop (PID).

I've been working with CR servos, but they don't track perfectly.

I did just figure out a way to use a pair of reflective IR sensors to count wheel motion on my ASB-13 'bot.

My first thought was to use a CR servo but I didn't think it would work for the project I'm doing. You see, my idea is to use the lynxmotion tank tread stuff to make a conveyer belt. The problem with using a servo is that I didn't think I could fit the universal hub http://www.lynxmotion.com/p-115-universal-hub-4mm-pair.aspx (you do need that to use sprockets, right?) to any of the servo heads. Do any of you know whether this can be done or not?

I'll add the info on the wheel encoders to my ASB-13 thread after I've worked with it a little. I still need to transfer an encoder pattern to the inside of the wheels.

I'm looking for ideas. Possibly make a vinyl transfer. Or just scribe lines, and use a permanent marker or model paint.

A servo isn't going to fit the hub, but...

You can just attach it to the servo horn. Only one sprocket will fit on the servo and I have no idea how well it will actually perform. It will fit though, that's all I'm saying.
