Hi to all,
I own a site +forum (non-comercial) which is about snowsports and weather. In cooperation with friends we like to put webcameras in mountains (some of them are full autonomus).
Some days ago I put a webcam in a village that looks to a mountain and then I got that idea! Why not making it to login and for a minute the user (long distance) get the control of it?(2 axis).

After a long search on the internet I found that I must experiment with a

A way to do it would be to use a small Linux computer connected to the internet and driving the webcam:

Also, you will need a USB servo motor controller such as this one:

Then it is up to the software to serve the camera images and allow for remote control of the servos.

May be easier/cheaper to get a cam setup made to do what you want to do.

Hi, Zoomkat,

I'm not sure exactly what the problem is, but that Foscam URL you suggested sets of all kinds of alarms with my antivirus software which then proceeds to block it completely. If I recall correctly, I had the same problem the last time someone suggested Foscam.

I realize you cannot be having any problem, or you would not be suggesting it. Do you know of any other path to reach this product?

Thanks, Ted

I know the solution of ready-made tilt and pan webcam but i want to play more, so i prefer the expierement of building it my self.

Link to Foscam works OK for me, and I bought one about a year and a half ago.

Works fine, currently using it.
