Those look pretty nice. I would try the 1/25 microstep, I don't see a reason to go any higher than that. If you use that then set your 'steps per' value to 500.

Ok i will try that.. ;)
(if only i could buy time...)

On my current CNC i have it at 1/8 i think. It's a Xylotex all in one driver

@Marcham

Ok here is a printscreen of the motor tuning for 1/25 micro stepping.
Am i right.. ? (lol)

Couple of question.. i have found that with the arrow key i can Jog, but where do i set the jog speed..?

The GCode load screen (3d view of toolpath) is strange.
Can't see it really good.. is it normal.. ?

I have buy a screenset ... the original is pretty ugly.. and compare to LinuxCNC

Ok.. let's say..
1/16 microstep
200 step per turn
10mm pitch

Steps per = 200(1/16)/10
2000/8 = 250

so in the case Step Per in motor setup i put 250.. right ?

For the 1/16th microstep you'll need to set the steps per to 320.

200/(1/16)/10=320

For the 1/25th case it looks like you set it up correctly.

I believe the jog speed selection is in the lower right of the settings tab? I'm not at home right now so I can't be sure, I'll confirm later. The slow jogging is because there are 2 jog speeds, if you hold shift while you jog then it should move as fast as the max velocity you set in the tuning window.

As for the missed steps, it is most likely due to using a laptop. I know it sucks to have to throw more money into it but a cheap desktop will almost certainly solve that problem.

This is the one I bought.

Marcham thanks again.
Yes i did a very quick auto setup and it was near 316 .. but did it with some really bad mesurement instrument.. lol
So yes i think 320 will be spot on (will test)

For the JOG i found that pressing the "Tab" key open the jog control with the 0-100%

That last tests where made on a freshly installed desktop pc.
So it's not the Laptop itself and the PC is capable ...
I think it has too fast acceleration, or something in the GCode is bad..

Hi Eric,
Excellent picture of your CNC hardware. The photo is stunning!

The bath for water cutting is very interesting. I couldn't really tell from the YouTube; is it something that can be added to your CNC as an accessory, or would you an entirely different machine base?
